this frighteningly beautiful road is frequented by massive logging trucks and rock slides. It's a pleasant view but it's difficult to enjoy the empyreal scenary when the thought of turning a bend and finding yourself face-to-face with a Semi full of lumber is constantly on your mind.
Fantastic description. Details are always nice. The purplish hue adds an aura to this, I'm not sure how to descibe it. It's quite striking though. You seem to have stepped up a notch as of late.
running into a semi with logs around this turn would not be good especially if you had bad insurance.
i love the mist and the colours generally. The long winding road reminds me of those metaphors of life being a long winding road it looks mysterious how the road seems to disappear into the mist like you don't know what's coming next.
hopefully not the semi.

Nice work, the concept of destruction is well conveyed, and so as a result it is a powerfull image.
The technical execution seems to let this down a bit though, The colours are unnatural in my books, and there are two focal points, usually the eye would be led into the distance by thr road, but in this case the very foreground and the distance compete.
On top of all this, your horizen is crooked, so your trees bend unnatually, and the road is tilting.
The horizon actually isn't crooked. Next to the road there is an incredibly deep gully with very steep slopes, which is what causes the trees to tilt that way. In addition to that, the road is a mountainous way of gravel and one is hard-pressed to find a single place that would 'line up' in particular with anything.
I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say the vocal points are conflictory - I don't see it myself but it's all in the eye of the beholder. Same goes for the colouration, the filters were intended to give it a deadly, ominous look, but were playing up what was there to begin with. The sunset combined with mist and smoke from the city below are what gives it that rather purple glow. Thanks for the uh CC however

My point was the image seems to have an unnatural tilt (wheather or not a deep gully exists on the left doesn't really matter to me).
What I also meant about conflicting focal points was the foreground road-barrier is well illuminated, so when you eye attempts to travel off down the road, into the darker area's, it get's pulled back.
I agree, the smokey/smog is good, it adds to the concept, and is visually stimulating, but i think having the haze another colour other then pink would be more productive.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P

Those are just my thoughts though
